Project description (English)
The Quebec Ecological Corridors Initiative (QECI) was launched by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in 2017 to accelerate the conservation of natural areas connected by ecological corridors. The initiative is coordinated by NCC and led by a group of 10 organizations. The group offers a collective approach to land use planning and advises provincial and municipal governments, woodlot owners, farmers and other key stakeholders. The group also carries out mobilization, capacity building, recognition and support activities throughout southern Quebec. QECI is supported by over 100 experts and stakeholders and receives most of its funding from the following organizations: the Government of Quebec (under the Action-Climat Québec program which meets the objectives of the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy), the Government of Canada’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Woodcock Foundation and Fondation de la faune du Québec.

L’Initiative québécoise Corridors écologiques (IQCÉ) a été lancée par Conservation de la nature Canada (CNC) en 2017 afin d’accélérer la conservation de milieux naturels connectés par des corridors écologiques. L’initiative, qui est coordonnée par CNC, est menée par un regroupement de 10 organismes qui proposent une approche collective de l’aménagement du territoire aux acteurs provinciaux et municipaux, aux propriétaires de lots boisés et de terres agricoles, et à d’autres acteurs clés. Pour ce faire, des activités de mobilisation, de renforcement des capacités, de reconnaissance et d’accompagnement sont réalisées dans le sud du Québec. L’IQCÉ, qui est soutenue par une centaine d’expert(e)s et de parties prenantes, bénéficie d’un financement provenant principalement des partenaires suivants : le gouvernement du Québec (dans le cadre du programme Action-Climat Québec qui rejoint les objectifs du Plan pour une économie verte 2030), le gouvernement du Canada (par l'entremise du ministère de l'Environnement et du Changement climatique), la Fondation Woodcock et la fondation de la Faune du Québec.
