The degree to which similar facets of the landscape such as habitats or vegetation patches are interconnected to facilitate movements of plants, animals, and the attendant ecological processes.  

The objective of this web platform is to ensure that government and non-government organizations are relying on the best available science on ecological connectivity in order to support the conservation of the connected landscape of the region. The website aims to inventory and present projects designed to maintain or restore ecological connectivity of the terrestrial or aquatic landscape in order to learn from the experiences of others as well as to catalogue success into the future. 

The platform results from an initiative by the members of the Ecological Connectivity Working Group established in response to Resolution 40-3 on ecological connectivity, climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation adopted by New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (NEG / ECP) in 2016. Resolution 40-3 recognizes the importance of ecological connectivity for the adaptability and resilience of ecosystems, biodiversity and human communities in our region, particularly in light of ongoing climate change events. It highlights the need and expectation for all jurisdictions in the region to work across landscapes and borders to advance efforts to restore and maintain ecological connectivity for the benefit of our fish, wildlife, ecosystems, and economies.
